About Ana
behind the scenes
Hello, my name is Ana and I was born in Medellin, Colombia. I’m the fifth child in a family of nine, and I’m the middle child because I have four older siblings and four younger ones. Growing up with both older and younger siblings helped me develop a passion for helping others.
My parents also instilled in me a love for music from a very young age, something that I’m extremely grateful for. I learned to play the violin, guitar, and a bit of piano. I sang in the school choir since I was 8 years old and worked singing at events until I turned 18. Being in contact with music makes me feel alive and peaceful, and I love the way that music connects the world and tells stories that we often can’t express ourselves.
When I was 7 years old, I joined a basketball team and played for the Medellin team for a while. Sports taught me to see life from a different perspective. I learned that even when we feel like our body and ourselves can’t continue, if we keep trying, all that effort will be worth it in the future.
Through my experience with sports and music, I realized that I love new challenges and consider myself a person who perseveres until reaching their goal. From a young age, I discovered a passion for languages, always enjoying learning new words and expressions in different languages. I remember that when I was little, I loved listening to music and watching movies in another language.
The sound of those words so different from what they spoke at home sparked a curiosity in me that I couldn’t satisfy. I dreamed of one day being able to speak and teach my native language to people all over the world. Over time, this passion led me to study and speak English and German fluently.
I love learning the grammatical structures and cultural differences that each language has. But what really makes me happy is teaching. I love seeing how my students learn and get excited when they can communicate in Spanish. I discovered that sharing my knowledge of Spanish with foreigners was a wonderful way to connect with cultures and people from all over the world.
Every day, I dedicate myself to conveying my love for the Spanish language to my students, adapting my teaching to the needs of each of them. I always manage to make my classes fun and enjoyable, with interactive and dynamic activities that help my students improve their fluency and confidence in the language.
